We have learned so much so far. We focused on working in Excel and discussing the articles for the week. I am very excited to look deeper into podcasts next week so that I can double dip with another class.
This week we focused our study on MS Excel. I have had some experience in Excel but it is minimal. I currently use Excel to create organized lists but that is about it. I gained knowledge about creating papers that can be used in a classroom setting. Spelling tests, math worksheets and more can be created with hidden features that will track students work for the teacher without the student knowing. I am still lost for ways that I would be able to use these features for my students. I teach kindergarten and it would be unproductive for use in my classroom for anything other than an organization tool for myself. I am interested in other tools within Excel that could ease my life with more organization. While in class today we shared our Power Point slides with one another. Like many others I was intimidated at the thought of scoring each other with "clickers" as Denvy had us do. Thank goodness, they were used more as an educational tool than an assessment. I don't understand exactly how it works but it is amazing that the class could be on a site recording their scores from random devices. I understood more today with our second visit to Photoshop. There are so many cool tools that I think I could get lost just playing around! Photoshop is not something that I see as a value at this time but I think it is extremely cool and it is something that I would like to know about for later in my professional and personal life. We have been working on Photoshop and building websites. I felt a little lost during our Photoshop training and although I would fine it to be interesting, I see Photoshop as an extra that I would like to take on when I am not bogged down with work and school. I have taken CSE 606-Website Design but I have never created a blog. I love learning new things and applying them to my classroom! |
